This is a strand of very lovely dyed green agate faceted oval beads which measure approx. 20 x 15 mm - various shades of green with lots of banding, no two beads the same - there are 8 beads to the strand. 

Agates are a member of the quartz family and are often banded with stripes, showing beautiful patterns. Named after the River Achetes in Sicily, agates are thought to protect the wearer from danger and stimulate success.
